An interview with the artist who created the Jon Bostic Jersey
After 12 weeks as the number one children's coloring book on Amazon, the is no longer at the top of the heap. But not to worry. Texas' http://www.nflbearsofficial.com/Nike-Lamarr-Houston-Jersey.html own political phenom remains a cultural icon, only the most recent manifestation is decidedly more adult themed. It is the poster with the arresting image of a bare chested, heavily tatooed Cruz, a cigarette dangling from his lips, that was plastered arround Los Angeles and in short order across the Internet in advance of the senator's recent Ides of March appearance at the Claremont Institute's Sir Winston Churchill dinner.
It is an stunning image, and one which the senator playfully embraced.
Saw this, but noticed an error.
I talked to him on Friday, and this is some of what he told me.
Sabo was born in Kyle Long Women Jersey Brownsville. His family has been there generations, and there is an island thereabouts that bears his family name. But no more clues as to his identity.
While growing up, his mother remarried and the family moved to central Louisiana.
He joined the Marines as part of a pact with a friend, who backed out at Jon Bostic Youth Jersey the last minute.
He took the name Sabo, from sabot, a word he learned in the Marines that he took to be the name of a short, hard and fast round of ammunition, which he thought fit him, and "I might as well take the name." But, he said of the definition, "I could be wrong. I spent most of my time in the Marines not wanting to be in the Marines."
Merriam Webster defines sabot as "a thrust transmitting carrier that positions a missile in a gun barrel or launching tube and that prevents the escape of gas ahead of the missile," which still seems to work as a nom de plume.
In the Marines, he was in a tank wtih an aspiring artist with a sketch pad and ambitions to attend the Pasadena Art Center College of Design. He didn't end up at the Art Center, but Sabo did.
He has been interested in politics since he was seven, and managed to resist what he characterized as the ceaseless efforts of popular culture and the education establishment to indoctrinate young people and especially anyone interested in the arts into a left wing groupthink.
From birth, he said, "Sesame Street is telling you who the bad guys are and who the good guys are, all the way through college, so when you grow up and decide you want to be an artist, you're an artist and you're a progressive. It's just a given. It's not even a question."
He has worked as a commerical artist and in Web design, but is most suited to solitary pursuits. "I'm not exactly a people person. If my boss sucks, I tell him he sucks."
And, he said, "all the start ups are 20 year olds. I'm 46. You nflbearsofficial.com/Nike-Martellus-Bennett-Jersey.html don't want to be in the room."
One of Kyle Long Kids Jersey his first political pieces (his work can be found here and here) is his ironic Abolish the 2nd Amendment poster. His F. Peace is, he thinks, as topical as when he created it just after 9 11. His flying monkeys holding Hillary 2016 signs will be good for at least a couple more years, and his trove of anti Obama art still has plenty of shelf life. And, he said, there's no dust on You can't spell "Progressive" without "SS," the "SS" in Nazi font.
What bothers him most about Obama, he said, is that all these "progressives" who thought "when Bush was in office that he could control the weather and the price of oil," now defend Obama as defenseless against larger forces a mere "figurehead." He believes Obama's race serves as a shield against criticism.
One of his most ambitious pr0jects is a series of posters of well known figures Jon Stewart, Alec Baldwin, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Rock, and a few others with a drone behind them, labled DRONE, because he views them as slavish mouthpieces for a president who, incidentally, kills people with drones. The Samuel L Jackson posters, he said, have proven pretty resistant to being torn down, perhaps because people think it's the title of his next film.
The Cruz poster came to him he was walking along Venice Beach.
"A friend of mine, a German, has a shop. He has these images with Marilyn Monroe with tattoos, Einstein holding an automatic weapon."
